  1. There’s a clip on YouTube of Wout Van Aert trying to teach this to Reggie Miller 🤣

  2. The first rider is doing a “track stand”. It’s easier to do on an incline. It’s useful if you don’t want to unclip your pedals. Mostly, it’s a flex among cyclists, IMO. I’ve been working on it for a few months.

As for the hopping, I’ve never tried it.

  3. The hopping seems pretty exhausting, I think her technique is way better. You can do this fully clipped in too if you manage to throw your weight into reversing the bike a bit

I’m going to practice doing this…it’s always impressed me, and it would come in handy!

  5. If you unclip to control the front wheel why not just put the right foot down on the ground?

  6. I grew up using old clip pedals. The types with a leather strap and a cage. I could track stand for hours.

As soon as I switched to Look pedals I fully embraced the freedom to unclip and put a foot down. It was liberating

One of the reasons I still ride fixed gear after like 15 years, being able to track-stand at traffic lights. Still can’t do it hands free though…🥺

  8. I am doing it without jumping or playing with the wheel, i am better please film me .

  9. I prefer a much more boring stationary track stand waiting for traffic. Nowhere as cool as these two riders but comfortable.

It does tend to freak out an occasional driver at four way stops who seem to disbelieve you’ll just pause your foreword motion.

  10. Did this clipped in once and flopped over in front of traffic. Got a lot of horn honcking for approval.

  11. Many bike couriers can do this pretty effective. It’s easier if you go fixed by just pedaling back and forth, but also can be done with that foot on the front wheel, like she does. Never seen something like the hopping guy in public

    It’s called “track-standing” and it’s difficult. I just put a foot down.

No need to fixie track stand it, just do a normal track stand with both feet on the pedals

  14. The woman unclipping is similar to an old school freestyle BMX trick where you use both feet to control the front wheel and balance on it

I don’t use clip, but as person with short legs I have to fully dismount at every pedestrian light or risk falling, never dared to rest on one foot cause my bike would have to be bent at 45deg to accomodate my short legs.
