Cycling in Greece is coming to an end. But Greece didn’t disappoint, not even in the end. Despite not being that well known among bikepackers, I found here, in the north of Greece a lot of things to see: the lion of Amphipolis, byzantine castles and the amazing archaeological remains at Maroneia.
It was also the first time me seeing a Pelikan, as well as many other beautiful creatures in Nestos National Park, which I cycled through on my way to Alexandroupoli.
Even though I did not arrive in Alexandroupoli when planned, I really enjoyed this last week of cycling here and sleeping one last time on a beach, under the stars and in front of the sea, falling asleep with the sound of the waves.

Now it is time for new adventures and new lands to discover, although not the ones I thought at first.
Stay tuned for the next episode to find out where we’re heading next!

  1. Tubes. Part 2 😊
When you take the tube out make sure you note which way it came out. Pump up the tube and listed for air leak or feel it on your cheek. Mark that spot on the tyre and search for the needle broken off from the thorn. Do this by turning the tyre inside out as that may push the needle in so you can remove it. Keep doing this until there are no more holes in the tube. Sometimes you can find more on the tyre by firmly running your fingertips on the inside of the tyre whilst turned inside out and when not. If you don’t do this those needles will soon puncture the new tube

  2. Congratulations on a great adventure 🎉
My suggestion for touring tires is Schwalbe Marathon Tour Plus. I have 35 mm ones on my cyclo-cross bike, 8000 km without a puncture.
They don't roll as fast as other tires, but I had no punctures for years.

  3. Hey Georg! This series of video's is absolutely amazing, great. I am doing a trip across Europe (Lisbon to Istanbul) this fall (Sept to Nov) . I was able to plan my route pretty easily for most of it except Greece and Turkey, I was really concerned about the road conditions. This was a great resource to see what I will be encountering.
