What do you guys think? All my mates have full sus giants and i feel as though my bike is obviously not as good as theirs but it not bad, right? The white grips need a change so that's why they are zip tied to the bars. The laast photo is a slightly older one. Yes that's seat suspension. Apologies if this doesnt fit with the rules, I'm not really sure whether this is allowed… I'll take it down if I can if it doesnt 🙂

  1. Do you enjoy it? If so it’s not bad. People care way too much about specific gear. Just go have fun.

Looks pretty sweet. It’s an XC bike. Short travel aggressive XC geometry. Good for smooth courses without much large jumps or drops. If your friends are all on full sus bikes, they may just be commenting on the fact it might be hard to hang for you on the trails they ride.

  3. Your post will be deleted because of rule 3, but I just want to say:

comparison is the thief of joy.

    ride what ya got.

  4. I’d rather answer honestly than parade around an answer that takes into account your feelings so do what you want with that information and downvote me if you like.

The bike is outdated and low end, it’s a bad bike only because bikes in the last 10 years or so have advanced so much. It probably needs a load of maintenance and if you get into mountain biking seriously then you will quickly outgrow it or break it.

Though it will not stop you having a shit load of fun, making memories with your mates or stop you learning.

Ride it till you break it, if you enjoy it enough save up for something a bit better. Have fun man 🤘

  5. being able to not give a fuck about what others think over a something so benign and harmless will set you free.

instead of seeking validation over us internet strangers, go out and enjoy your bike for what it is.

Does it ride the way you like? Do you enjoy riding it?

    If yes

    Who cares what they think.

    If no

Then try to single out what you feel could be better or you want to change and attack/research it etc.

It’s rarely the bike that makes one a good rider. Sure there are advantages to some gear over others. But that can be very subjective. If your having fun and enjoying the sport don’t look back. Life’s short. Ride your bike and forget about what others might think.

  7. Honestly any Cube is cooler than any Giant. You’re friends sound like jealous losers. Make sure you practice riding like 10-20% more often than them and dust them on the trails.

This bike could probably benefit from some upgrades, but that doesn’t make it bad. Especially if you’re not racing.

  8. All that matters is that you’re having fun. Your bike is technically outdated by current standards, but if you’re not competing or pushing this bike past its limits there’s honestly little reason to replace it.

Way too many people have self-identity tied up in the stuff they own and it’s too easy to rationalize unnecessary expensive purchases.
