In Vancouver British Columbia (BC) we have many flashing green lights at intersections. These often confuse newcomers but they simply indicate that the intersection is pedestrian controlled and may change at any moment. #vancouver #urbandesign #urbanism #cycling #bikelife #trafficsignal

Stupid
Yeah and now we're starting to see these pop up in rows on residential streets. They are annoying as hell and they never stop flashing.
I've been here 9 years and never knew this!
But I live on an island and we dont even have one traffic light. (;
You may also notice that people here dgaf about stop signs.
I spend my whole life in Vancouver, I thought it meant the lights aren't working! 😅
A press of the button and "eventually" the light turns red, if the button works, that is.
Go tell Richmond
We have that in the northeast, specifically in New England. They’re old pedestrian intersections with flashing reds facing the cross roads
Cities run by liberals never make sense because logic isn't a thing to liberals. Vancouver is the worst of them in Canada.

Wow, I’m New Brunswick it means advance left turn as well. You guys must get a ton of out-of-Towners who mess this up.
Would be nice if we had a flashing green option to let drivers know the light will turn yellow.
Side note but Ontario no longer uses solid flashing green circles but rather green flashing arrows.
Where I live it means the light is about to change
I just wonder why is it different than a normal traffic light green. In what does this information helps drivers?
man this is canada wide. we have flashing green in saskatchewan
In Ensenada, Baja, California. Mexico a flashing green light means that the light is soon going to change to yellow. I've seen that sequence in person several times. That happens in every stoplight cycle. Mr Bill
So how it should be?
You can thank the provinces having demanded years ago that they have full control over their highway codes without any federal standards. So you can be left wondering what the sign or traffic light is trying to convey to you.
Case in point, the "Caution: High Winds" sign in Quebec which looks like a bearded man blowing a road.
My first guess is it meant 'wake up, the light has changed" for those who don't pay attention.
Canada 🇨🇦 Mexico 🇲🇽 And El Salvador 🇸🇻
Ah yes.I just love dricing on the road and the light suddenly turns red because a pedestrian trolled me.
In the Philippines traffic lights in Metro Manila after how many seconds have 5 blinks of green light then 3 seconds of orange light then turning red light
I was in BC 2 years ago and noticed the flashing greens are so much slower than here in Ontario. I thought they were advanced greens. I wasn't driving though. Never knew this. Thanks for the info!
Here in Lithuania a flashing green indicated that the light is changind to yellow and then red.
This is ridiculous. The intersection shown might as well be fully signalled.
On Vancouver Island they mean something different than in the Lower Mainland. Here Flashing Greens are used to indicate that it is a pedestrian controlled crossing. Flashing green arrows indicate an advanced Left Turn at an intersection.
Flashing Green has no meaning and shall NOT be used. Please, for the love of god, adopt the US MUTCD and learn what a doghouse signal or Flashing Yellow Arrow is.
The flashing seems pointless. Who cares what causes the lights to change to red?
But in my area red light doesn’t work???
In Mexico, too, when the traffic light is about to change, the green light flashes. It's also the same
In my country a flashing green means that it is about to turn red
Ontario has been phasing out flashing advance greens in favour of arrows, because they provide more optionality in signal control
