We are deep in the thick of the winter weather here in the UK, but how are the off piste trails holding up?

Hello
Quite right. You’ve got to just get out there and enjoy it
Gotta love a cream egg 😂
My son is dying to get out and ride on his new DH bike, but the trail conditions are just not fun right now.
Fingers crossed it stops crazy raining soon. [His football match was called off today due to the heavy rain late yesterday 😬]
Love those trails in the dry
I dont mind riding in the wet. It's just the cleanup after.
Glad you are getting back out there! Your videos are really good. Keep them going!
Is the frame rate in this one a little bit choppy? Might just be my eyes 😂
i dont like the wet like it is now, too much. dont want to ruin my only bike before main season. well ridden
I’ve been using waterproof socks this year combined with Endura overshoes for 510s
Great Video – for me , it was simple , winter shoes , and summer shoes! I live in BC Canada we are in the mud and rainy season for us! cheers!
Glad you’re back on the bike bud 👌
OS or HIIKER online mapping is worth getting.
We did the monkey today, it was soooooo wet 😂
God mate it’s horrible to hear hear you were in an accident and hope injuries were kept to a minimum, at least it gives you an excuse to buy a van!😂
I live in the northwest of Spain and in one of my rides I miscalculated the depth of one of those filthy pools, and I fall from the bike and got in the muddy water from toe to head tip.
Luckily I was well equipped for rain and I managed to get out of the water quickly, so I didn't get that dampened as I would have expected after being totally submerged for a few seconds, but still, it was a cold day of November and I was 45 minutes away from home, so it wasn't the best experience, and since then I've been avoiding such tracks in the winter.
Love those trails wet or dry , they certainly make my laugh and feel like a kid again when slipping around in the mud . Similar conditions to my previous visit .
Nice trails ..I'd say the trail centre trails would have been worse….trust me I've been drenched riding the dog and monkey…in a very wet October.
Waterproof socks (Dexshell), dungarees (Endura MT500) and boots (Shimano GR8, I think) have been a game changer for winter riding for me. Not cheap, but a good investment. I ride at Cannock a lot, mainly on the official trails, but they hold the water as well , especially the Monkey which has bomb holes full of freezing water all winter. All good though 😂
5:40 hand guards would be a good idea.
You should get waterproof shoes. I use Anamoly A-line, they have a wide toe box, so I can use 43, so they are true to size, but you will still get wet on deep water, so I'm still waiting for proper wet riding shoes. The current version has regular punched holes instead of the lace loops, those kept failing. But they haven't updated their website with new pics. They are warm even in -10C despite not being insulated.
forget Endura if you got wide feet like me, they are very tight, squeeze the pinkie toe from the side and top. Their Burner Mt500 shoes have a superb design, but they are way too pointy, narrow tight.
I got 11cm wide feet, 27.5cm long. FiveTen are too tight in 44, Ride Concepts too.
Five Ten Trailcross GTX is waterproof and has some give in the toe box, so wearable for me, but still too tight, and there's no toe protection. But they will feel chilly in -10C. Butt doable for short rides, but probably will be too cold for a proper ride.
Northwave Multicross GTX has same fit as 5.10 and RC. They are insulated, but they donm't have any grip, I need to load them, or stand to have grip it gets worse in sub zero temps. And they are super stiff, like walking in wooden shoes. But great toe protection, and could ride in -10C or below.
If you can't find any waterproof gloves, you could wear a thin liner with nitrile gloves between for water proofing. If cold you can use thick liner, and size up on regular riding gloves, or if you have some too big gloves. But winter riding gloves exist too.
For sub zero temps, use thick liner and ski gloves, but for -10C that will be too cold, this way you won't be cold when you take them off, but but the air of the ski gloves keep you warm.
I’ve done cannock in both wet and dry. It’s horrible when wet but glorious when dry 😂
Next to seven springs car park is always a nightmare this time of year.
