I’ve got a pair of cycling bib shorts and the leg openings look a bit strange.

The gripper area at the bottom of the leg doesn’t sit flat: off the bike it looks slightly wavy/loose, and when I’m riding the leg tends to creep up a bit.

I’m wondering:

  1. Is this a sign that the bibs are the wrong size or just a design/quality issue with the leg gripper?

  2. Is there any way to fix or improve it (tailor, DIY, etc.), or should I just replace them?

  3. Which bib short brands would you recommend that have good, comfortable leg grippers that actually stay in place?

  1. Have they always been like that? All I can think is that either they’ve been over-stretched, or possibly tumble dried? Either way, that should not happen.

Even on my very old bibs, I’ve never had that happen unless I don’t put them on correctly
