The chain jumps like crazy whenever i put just a bit of power down on the top gear, no other gears have this issue, shifts fine. Adjustments to rear derailluer no effect either direction and seems aligned, new -ish bike only had it for ~5 months and started to do this about a month ago and is getting peogressively worse.. Thanks for your help!

If you dont really have skipping issues on all other gears and the shifting is fine, I’d recommend checking your smallest cog in your cassette. It may be worn out. Another possibility is that your derailleur is tweaked in such way that the first cog is not properly aligned.

  2. Do you spend a lot of time in the smallest cog? Its likely that the teeth on that cog are worn out. Its also likely that your chain is stretched out, too. Its in your best interest to go to your LBS and have them check your chain stretch. If I had to guess, you’ll need a new cassette and chain to get things back to normal. If you let things continue to wear, you’ll end up needing to buy a new chainring as well.
