The weather is disruptive this week with a mix of storms, heavy rain and autumn sunshine. I’m cutting and hammering stones for the stairway. Ollie and his sister Isabel are visiting for a few days and giving a hand. Johannes invites us for winter meal at his cabin.

This series is bittersweet for me. On one hand it is beautiful & moving, providing much needed escapism but on the other hand it reminds me how lousy my life is 😅.
I want to help. How can I help?
Wow – so exciting, Martijn!
I know what it’s like to work in rain and snow. I worked on a line crew in California. And finding and trimming the perfect fitting rock. I love your rockwork. I did all my rock work on the bottom of the log cabin, including a black slate tree.. I am a very old woman.
I always think that the cabin will be in someway overheated, mainly because the stove looks quite potent. I would like to hear an explanation about this. After all it is a relatively small cabin.
The copper chimney doesn't match with the overall look of the cabins. You should build a wall around it with the same stones. As you mentioned before, it does not look "sexy". Thank you
Forgive my ignorance but to where are the steps leading?
Nature. Best supporting actor.
Isabel, there are no small parts, just small actors. You really crushed a nearly anonymous role!
OMG, that opening shot looking out on the valley and night sky is just awesome!
Question what will you do when the chimney flue burns out? They do quicker than you think. Just seems like a lot of workto have to demo to change them out. But maybe I’m not seeing something
I'm proud to say , I'am here since the beginning 🇵🇭 Swerte kayu makakita ani !
gefeliciteerd met t resultaat..what a job!heb eens een boot gebouwd van 4 meter..ook een groot project voor een onervaren klusser..but I did it..succes met de verdere afbouw!
I can't begin to tell you what a steadying influence your videos have for me. The beauty of nature, the beauty of hard work and perseverance and the wonder of mans skills.
the patience to hammer the edge of the stone steps in the lashing rain!
Martijn du bist eine Legende 🎉❤
Man talk about patience. It's really coming along. Great job!
Grazie.
To see and hear you chipping and weathering the stone for the stairs adds a new dimension to the care and beauty you add to each new layer of your build. ❤
Martin… next time your over at Johannes place… can you see if he will let you take a quick video of his chapel?
That was a lot of rain! You did a lot this week and probably got wet most days. The chicken peeping in the window was an awesome shot! They are quite the talkers. Thank you for sharing your week….
Nice work! That rain bites! Keep up good work !
Hola Martijn te queda poco para terminar tu cabaña me encantan tus videos saludos desde Argentina
Can someone tell me how to contact Martijn? I don't do instagram
Martijn, you are making a palace of that house of yours!
Fantastic 👍🙏
Stove/staircase really is beautiful, such a great use of space. Also the Copper chimney, fantastic! Thank you for sharing your progress every week.
You used mortar right on steel. It'll crack.
So excited 😊
brilliant
真不错呀
So, Martijn, it has been more than two years since moving onto the property. Will you be producing a, "Year Two," Wrap up like the first year?
What a beautiful Sunday. Made better by the fact that I have two big positives for the day. 1. Martijn is bringing out a video today and 2. I am going to watch Bryan Adams tonight.
Martijin deserves an Oscar for this series. Script, direction, camera work, everything is perfect.
Hello greetings fellow 0bservers! How many Suspicious 0bservers are here watching Martijn buildout his high elevation cabins? I am dreaming about do the same thing as well!
good job.
but for those who are thinking of starting a job, contact with the ground is useful for a more stable temperature, but the ground is not insulating. the insulation could actually contain losses towards the ground and offer more comfort by burning less wood.
I just love the drone-footage (plus your choice of music). Such serene beauty…..
What a lovely video and when you got up on that ladder with that chimney I almost croaked. It's going to be beautiful.
If Martin gets a rooster, he will have fertile eggs(less fat) and a noisy dude to wake him up all hours of the day and night.
so I missed the part about where you installed insulation?
Everytime you show the stars it's hard to believe what I am seeing. Living on the fringe of a huge city, if five stars are visible I feel fortunate. Those steps are a work of art. I love your films, your energy, your inspiration. God bless you.
sir why I feel that you are using drugs? I hope it dont be like that
The head torch used at the beginning of this video gives really good light. What is the make and model of this torch?
Lived on a 30 acre farm for 48yrs and you wouldn't believe the things I've witnessed.
