The weather is disruptive this week with a mix of storms, heavy rain and autumn sunshine. I’m cutting and hammering stones for the stairway. Ollie and his sister Isabel are visiting for a few days and giving a hand. Johannes invites us for winter meal at his cabin.

  1. This series is bittersweet for me. On one hand it is beautiful & moving, providing much needed escapism but on the other hand it reminds me how lousy my life is 😅.

  3. I know what it’s like to work in rain and snow. I worked on a line crew in California. And finding and trimming the perfect fitting rock. I love your rockwork. I did all my rock work on the bottom of the log cabin, including a black slate tree.. I am a very old woman.

  4. The copper chimney doesn't match with the overall look of the cabins. You should build a wall around it with the same stones. As you mentioned before, it does not look "sexy". Thank you

  5. Question what will you do when the chimney flue burns out? They do quicker than you think. Just seems like a lot of workto have to demo to change them out. But maybe I’m not seeing something

  6. gefeliciteerd met t resultaat..what a job!heb eens een boot gebouwd van 4 meter..ook een groot project voor een onervaren klusser..but I did it..succes met de verdere afbouw!

  7. I can't begin to tell you what a steadying influence your videos have for me. The beauty of nature, the beauty of hard work and perseverance and the wonder of mans skills.

  8. That was a lot of rain! You did a lot this week and probably got wet most days. The chicken peeping in the window was an awesome shot! They are quite the talkers. Thank you for sharing your week….

  9. Stove/staircase really is beautiful, such a great use of space. Also the Copper chimney, fantastic! Thank you for sharing your progress every week.

  10. What a beautiful Sunday. Made better by the fact that I have two big positives for the day. 1. Martijn is bringing out a video today and 2. I am going to watch Bryan Adams tonight.

  11. Hello greetings fellow 0bservers! How many Suspicious 0bservers are here watching Martijn buildout his high elevation cabins? I am dreaming about do the same thing as well!

  12. good job.
but for those who are thinking of starting a job, contact with the ground is useful for a more stable temperature, but the ground is not insulating. the insulation could actually contain losses towards the ground and offer more comfort by burning less wood.

  13. Everytime you show the stars it's hard to believe what I am seeing. Living on the fringe of a huge city, if five stars are visible I feel fortunate. Those steps are a work of art. I love your films, your energy, your inspiration. God bless you.
