That is how my kid and I commuted from ages 3-6 until he was old enough to ride his bike longer distances
Hard mode, put a fixed cog on the trail-a-bike too

Ok, I love it, but also, oof.
This is exactly why I’m finally building a non-fixed bike. Wouldn’t trust myself with the extra weight, and I’m not putting brakes on my vintage Italian Pista.
I’m sure it’s fine, I just don’t wanna find out if it’s not.
No helmet on either of you is completely fucked.
