Episode 15 – Basque Country Bliss: Plazaola Greenway from San Sebastian to Irurtzun! 🚴♂️🏔️
We dive into the stunning Plazaola Greenway (Vía Verde del Plazaola) – one of Spain’s most magical car-free paths! Dramatic mountains tower above, rivers rush below, and we pedal through **17+ tunnels** (including the jaw-dropping **Uitzi Tunnel** at 2,700 meters – the longest on any European greenway!). The dark, echoing galleries and sudden bursts of light make every passage epic.
Despite snow lingering on higher sections, the lower route stays mild and warm – perfect riding weather after so many cold days. Blue skies, gentle slopes, lush valleys… this was the best, most peaceful day we’ve had in ages. Basque Country, you delivered!

would it be possible to get a gpx file or a link to komoot for this route as i am going to be cycling from roscoff to santander in september and would like to do this section from san sebastian as a way to get to santander , great videos by the way thankyou regards mike
