The Port Lowdown offers detailed and fun videos about cruise ports and destinations, helping independent, budget-minded travelers save time and money. We found that many videos lack the details we needed, such as parking, restrooms, available services, and even sidewalk quality. We act as your “port scout”, providing first-hand reports on essential information that others overlook; our videos cover port terminals, independent excursions, goods, services, transportation and even ship tours. With time ticking away during your port visit, we understand the importance of sound planning to make every moment count.
Let us give you the Lowdown!

It's interesting
Big thanks to Port Lowdown for their positive view of the island of Bimini! It's fantastic to see them recognizing the importance of using a local guide like Max from Bimini Island Tours. Truly adds depth and authenticity to their content. Keep up the great work!
Places like this I would not like to visit on a cruise. I think I would like to take a flight and head straight there because as exciting and fun as cruises are, they can give your mind a false impression of vacation locations and make it look too small to spend a week long vacation. A vacation is supposed to be a time to kick back and relax your mind and body, not a time to do as much as possible in a limited time, which is the mind frame you get into when you port at places while on a cruise. On a cruise you really don't have the time to absorb all the location has to offer you, because you're on a specific pace that is not set by you, and you have to get moving with the crowd, and be back on ship with everyone. Really not what your well earned vacation should be. The Caribbean is a paradise that GOD has given us, and it's big enough for us all. Let's slow down, and ease our minds, and take it all in slowly. It's good for our health 🙂
Now I have to book this twice once to go left and the other to go right lol
Can you give us an idea of the price of a tour with Max?
Thank for the info. This the first trip we are taking our children on. And we can not really afford the expensive cruise excursions. I figured we could rent a taxi or small vehicle just to take them to a beach that’s close by.
How do I get t6o South Bimini? I used to have property there.
I fell in love with Bimini…🇧🇸
We paid $140 for a golf cart and had a blast running up and down and went to 3 different beaches. Good times and conch is pretty tasty
Although I cruise frequently, this will be my very first time traveling to Bimini! This is a great video, thank you for posting!
flying is best for us ,boat one time , found secret places we love .. the resort is declining tho . roach in the lobster wasn't pleasant , trashy ,,island life
Thank you for the absolutely provide video… Thank you for holding the camera still🤣😂 I am glad you profiled Bimini because I truly believe it is a diamond in the rough underappreciated little island. Absolutely new subscriber thank you.
Great video. I just went last week. We did an eight hour day on a cruise. This island is so perfect for that. We rented a golf cart ($120 – didn't have reverse) and stayed to the right away from resorts. We snorkeled around the point and the ship wreck. It's the clearest water I've ever seen on earth. Later I also rented a jet ski (well worth it). If I could throw in one thing. Have lunch or a meal at the big game dock. The food was really good and there's big bull sharks swimming around on the dock. I counted at least four along with some nurse sharks and other big fish. I think someone feeds them from the dock so they are kind of residence. This is one Island I can't wait to go back to! Truly the perfect day. Enjoyed the video. Thank you!
I go there every year with Virgin Cruise. They own the beach there that’s unbelievable. It’s to the left of the pair.
I think I’m going to love Bimini
LOVE this! THANK YOU! I am going to use your recommendations when we're in Bimini next month!!!
Thank you for the review on Bimini
How
Much are golf carts for 2 ppl?
How much was the tour ?
While relaxing in the pool or beach, do you have to worry about your beach bag, left at your seat?
great video, I was pretty much sold on renting a golf cart but having a private tour guide that is actually from the island is very appealing, I love to explore the history of everywhere I go and being able to just listen to a local reflect on their life their is about as good as it gets
We were scheduled for this port on 11/5/24, but Carnival could not dock due to the weather. Great video. Can't wait til I have this on my itinerary again.
You said you wanted to return to that fabulous beach. Was that Radio beach you’re speaking of? Thanks
Love local tours, thanks for sharing!
On 29 i go to bimini. Excited 😊😊
Are there bathrooms on Radio Beach?
Great video, my husband and I are going to Bimini. I wanted to do a private tour, thanks for the information.
Wow this video was AMAZINGGGGGGG. Best one I’ve seen about bimini

First time on MSC, boarding in a week from now, when MSC cruise is at Ocean Cay, is Bimini beach exclusive for upgraded passengers? or its for anyone that is one MSC cruise passengers? I will like to book a golf cart too to get there as well. I`m able to book it online?
I would like to go to the Bimini Islands to see where they filmed the last scene for the movie The Silence of the Lambs. Any information you could provide for this I would greatly appreciate it
Rob
can you tell me what beach is @4:45?
I don't see the link to the tour guy.
4:14 is the film location for the ending scene of The Silence of the Lambs. So much has changed since the early 90's.
Bimini is my least favorite Bahama island. A total money pit. I wish I had seen this video and made the turn to the right.
I love Bimini! My dad finally invited me for the first time last year (he's been going for 20+ years). His buddy has a condo at Bimini Cove on the south island, and we stayed on another friends yacht in the bay. Got around the island on the e-bikes the yacht-owner had. Can't wait to go back again
Ty first impression of the island is here
Very informative video. Thank you.
This would be a cool vacation spot. An island so tropical but still so small you could walk the entire island in a day. Beaches look amazing as well. I wonder if they have any freediving locations.
