I got some Neopro shorts late last year and the other day noticed that the crotch is already hella pilled! On the left are Neopro shorts with less than 200 miles on them. In the middle are some Amazon generic shorts (Baleaf) with about 300 miles on them, and on the right are some older amazon generic shorts (Santic) with probably close to 1000 miles on them. What gives here?! I machine wash and air dry all of these, is there something else I should be doing to maintain them? Why are the most expensive shorts in this lineup already falling apart?

Does anyone have any other mid range brand suggestions to check out? Tbh I really like the Baleaf short, they fit great, have the rubber in the cuffs to keep them from sliding, and have a phone pocket. They don't make many colors though 🙁

  1. If you want colors, try the ykywbike bibs. You can get them on Amazon, for a slighty higher price than AliExpress.

Idk what to tell you other than you get what you pay for with neopro and any budget brand really.

If you want to stay super budget friendly I have heard mostly good things about the black bibs: https://theblackbibs.com/products/the-black-shorts-plus

If you want a meaningful step up in quality and are able to pay more I would consider the Rapha core line. I had three sets of Rapha core bibs that held up very well for 4 seasons of regular wear. Used Raphas recycle program and turned the old bibs in for credit toward Rapha pro team training bibs which are even better.

They’re selling purely based on the price being low. You’re not going to get the best fabrics. Like any technical clothing, you pay for higher quality. If you’re only riding a little, it makes sense to go cheaper. If you’re putting more demands on the kit, it makes sense to spend more.
