I’m bias but Orbea’s customization options really nip this whole issue in the bud

  2. “These days” it’s been like this for years, and honestly I prefer the earthy colors over the neo colors of yesteryear.

People need to buy the fun colored bikes when they’re available, so manufacturers know to make them. Presumably, they aren’t buying them, so bike makers don’t waste their time.

Although I’m probably just as guilty of not buying them (at full price), mine was bought new old stock at close to 50% off presumably because Kona couldn’t sell them.

Are all the bikes gresycale or did you only took screenshots of the greyscale option?

I’m not going to chase down each individual model you’ve posted but as an example, a Trek Domane is currently available in green, red, “super nova marble” (a pattern), oh and also there’s a greyscale option.

I agree with what you say, but the giant one is actually a nice paintjob, very shiny metalic

  6. The cool colors are always the expensive bikes sadly. They sell wraps and things (reflective tape, etc). I’m actually thinking about covering my frame in pom poms or plastic beads just for something unique.

It’s the same with computers and smartphones. Pastel colors everywhere. Baby blue, baby red/pink.

If you want vibrant colors you are out of luck these days 🙁

Thats why i got a custom frame painted direct from the factory in China. Its a bright orange and i love it.

  9. There are plenty of colorful options. It was much more the matte black-fest 4-5 years ago.

I was happy to repaint my vintage Bianchi a less conspicuous color. I’d rather not have my expensive asset yelling “look at me”.

  11. My wife tried to buy me a jersey for my birthday, and discovered that she could get any color she liked, as long as it was white, brown or gray.

The one colorful jersey in the store was up on the wall, and she asked about it. It was the owner’s.

I’m not the biggest fan of dirt beige but the current selection (which I bet still hides plenty of loud colors in certain brands and models) still beats the everything matte black trend of ten years ago.

No one told Surly, their bike colors are awesome. Been looking at the yellow preamble for a city bike that I wouldn’t be worried locking up for some time.
