Over the past 7 years Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland, North East Adventure Tourism and a variety of regional and national partners have collaborated in an attempt to support the many local businesses, projects, groups and individuals who make Aberdeen City and Shire such special, yet still somewhat under the radar, destinations for an adventure.

Since the appointment of our first Aberdeenshire regional co-ordinator in 2018 the region has hosted 3 staff members, expanded the core project to include wider adventure activities, delivered millions of pounds of investment into facilities, training, trail networks, regional promotion, business development programmes, event support and community initiatives. The strength of the region is in its collaborations and community – supportive regional partner agencies, a growing network of excellent coaching and guiding specialists, a broad spectrum of cycling and outdoor events, a strong network of bike shops and industry businesses, volunteers and club coaches going above and beyond, many passionate entrepreneurs building special and unique offerings, a drive from accommodation paters to cater well for adventurous visitors, huge community efforts to develop facilities that cater for locals and tourists alike and a friendly welcome all contribute to an ever increasing profile as a riding destination.

This film created by Calum McBain as part of the Fresh Cuts Programme delivered by Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland, Cut Media and Screen Scotland, features 3 segments highlighting just some of the regions highlights blending a creative shooting style, a mixture of locations, some key local businesses and some local characters who help make this region what it is – Scottish MTB Destination of the Year and an excellent place to get out and adventure in so many other ways!
