Bought a 2015 Giant Seek 1 for like $80 as a project/new commuter. I have never owned a Alfine hub so just want to confirm my assumption that this was either recently serviced or factory greased and just not ridden to the point of service. The bike history I got was that it was commuted on for 5 years and then stored poorly since then.

That looks damned near brand new.
Sometimes you open a well-ridden hub and it looks brand new like this. The seals and lubrication are better on the post 2012 or so hubs – earlier hubs were more likely to be balls of rust when heavily used
Keep in mind that the hub oil does have a recommended device based on not only mileage, but also time.
Staying on top of the service by siping f it and greasing the bearings is cheap, easy, and just guarantees longevity of the hub.
Yes. It looks clean and recently serviced, but so does a hub with many more miles in it.
Get the oils, buy the grease. That gun is in good hands. Have fun 👍
