London js new model for the new concentration camp. Where the camp has been built by the inmates themselves, and the inmates are the guards and they have this pride in this thing they’ve built.
They’ve built their own prison, so they exist in a state of schizophrenia. They’re both guards and prisoners and as a result, they no longer have, having been lobotomized, the capacity to leave the prison they’ve made, or to even see it as a prison.
Rory is describing something I've been considering for half a decade now.
Buying a cheap plot of land somewhere. Throw up a big tall fence around it. And park up. Stay out of sight, live my life quitely (which I already do). And have a much higher quality of life with all the money Im saving.
Rory is an academic and doesn't live in reality – but that doesn't stop him from having an opinion about everything under the sun. He clearly has no idea how much it costs to stay in a caravan park overnight. Nor does he understand how quickly these vans depreciate. And try living in them in a British winter!
Why hate landlords? Big property companies might be greedy, but normal people with one or two rental properties aren't that well off. A property costs at least 5% of it's value a year to own, so most rents are reasonable, especially comparing rent to a mortgage is one of the biggest fallacies ever.
It sounds great, especially for a person who can't sit in one spot for too long. He doesn't however take into account that we live in a society governened by overprotective Karens. Motor-home living will get so over-regulated and over-licensed that it'll stop being an attractive option really fast.

This guy is full of shit
I’m sick of this city but can’t leave. Help.
It will depreciate a lot
70mil people with a few acres of land 😂
So, this woodland, there's a road to get in and out?
This guy is 50% good ideas and 50% deluded BS.

1. Used motor homes are worthless. They depreciate to 0
2. All land is owned. You must pay to park SOMEWHERE
I'm rebuilding my house and am only allowed to live in a caravan on the site for two years… On my own land
We had a motor home that was from the 80s
We sold it for £500 quid
Yeah they depreciate
Your not allowed to just buy a wood and live on it.
Electric vehicle is not going to depreciate "that much" ? Rory's hot takes on all thing EV have aged hilariously badly.
Mass migration turned London into a kasbah
I live in a motorhome. I still have to work long hours but I can decide where!
the system is weighted heavily to you having a permanent address, and try getting a mortgage for a motorhome
Once all the land is owned, its owners own everyone else.
The will do everything in their power to stop you being independent.

"It's not going to depreciate that much" – yeah, very, very very wrong.
Working for the Jews of Westminster? Did I heard that right?

Hahaha. 200k affordable
The motor home will be worth nothing in 15 years, where as bricks and motor will be worth more than you paid
