Still working on bike fit before I cut the steerer. Giant uses a D shape steerer so traditional circular spacers won’t fit around the exported steerer. The spacers above the stem is what goantinncludes to be used with their stems. Headset doesn’t feel loose and everything is tightened down to spec. What’s also worrying me is the exposed ingress on the top cap because it’s recessed and should be flush with the top of the stem.

    That’s fine.

    The stem does the heavy lifting for securing your fork. The preload is merely there to snug the bearings.

    As long as you don’t develop headset play after riding you’ll be fine for a while until you commit to the steerer cut.
