This was the worst its been. I have had something similar happen a few times now. This time I had to loosen the clamp for the front derailleur to get the chain unstuck. Is this an issue with the chain or something else? After I got the chain out of the derailleur the link was still funky.

I would look at a new chain, I would also take the bike to a shop to have the FD inspected and adjusted if you loosened it to get the chain unstuck and you don’t feel confident doing it yourself. I’d also look at the big chain ring to see if the teeth are damaged.
How did you get the beans above the frank?
But yes, first thing I’d do is clean, lube and potentially replace the chain. It’s not releasing from the crank and getting sucked up under itself. Could be it’s really sticky/rusty or the cranks teeth are bent and grabbing it.
Yea, if you have a funky link that’s what is catching definitely replace the chain. You may also need to replace the cassette and chainrings if the are too worn (having poor shifting and/or chain suck with a new chain)
