I recently dragged the fam over to Fairfax and checked out the Bruce Gordon exhibit that’s currently running at the MMB.
It features many of Bruce’s personal bikes, including a few I’d never seen IRL before. Some of my favorites include his carbon touring bike w/ti lugs, cantilever brakes and racks, his lugged steel townie bike with integrated seat mast and titanium baskets, and his lugged steel touring bike with ti racks BG canti brakes. He was an xbiker before the concept ever existed, and his blend of artistry, and boundary pushing craftsmanship is unrivaled IMO.
Taking in so much of Bruce’s early work also gave a new wave of motivation to get my own BG 26” restoration project (last pic) up and moving again!
I also had the pleasure of seeing Wende Kragg’s original klunker, a Joe Breeze road bike, early Cunningham/Salsa/Salsa/Steve Potts/Ibis/etc, Thomas Frischknecht’s UCI winning Ritchey and one of Grant’s personal Riv’s.
If you live in the Bay Area/Northern California, I’d highly recommend stopping by to check it out and support the museum!

Bruce Gordon 🙌
one day
wow cool place and the collection looks incredible
How many doodads, thingamajigs and gizmos can fit on a bike? The world may never know
That carbon lugged one will forever be a favorite
What would mount to the eyelets above the brake bosses on your BG fork? A custom rack?
Sweet hunter. When was it built?
YO BG brakes on your Hunter?
It’s pretty rad there. I grew up in Marin, but moved away more than 20 years ago. For a bunch of visits back in a row I was only there like Monday – Wednesday, but I finally made it there when they were open like a year and a half ago. I’d like to go again sometime. It’s such a great collection of bikes and I’d love to flip through old issues of Fat Tire Flyer.
My dad, who’s not a mountain biker, enjoyed it too as he also grew up there and is the same age as a lot of those pioneers. It was kind of funny with him looking up various people he used to know who are in the hall of fame.
Last time I was there Joe Breeze himself gave me a tour.
Yoooooo let’s see a pic of your Hunter tho
