I want to keep my Brompton C as simple as possible, but I could use at least a speedo-/odometer for tours.
Bulkier GPS computers avoid messy wiring and sensors and may provide useful functionality. I don’t want to use the iPhone.
Problem: Handlebar space and folding requirements with already a light installed. My dealer gave me the somewhat unsightly fork light mount for free, but I want to keep the light on the handlebar for flexibility and performance.
I was able to install my aged Garmin Etrex 10 using a rather compact band clamp (same as Cateye lights) though the existing light mount is already obstructing the bulky Etrex adapter a bit, requiring some levering when inserting the device.
Careful calculations revealed that the considered Sigma ROX bike computer will not be useable with the present mount due to the handlebar obstructing rotation.
So what are my options?
- Make do with the Etrex?
- Use some lame slanted rubber band mount above the shifters?
- Try the handlebar stem or even the frame tube?
- Use a smaller non-GPS computer?
- Try an extended mount that is obstructing neither folding nor packing?
What are you using?

Currently using a GoPro mount adapter for the handlebar screw and a GoPro-DualMount on top. Wahoo on one side, light on the other. Folds into nothing because it’s in the handlebar space.
Cheap Xoss GPS unit on a Gopro-to-Garmin style mount at the handlebar clamp (previously used with the stock “rubber band” Garmin mount which works fine too).
Love the 💛 Etrex 10 💛 btw!
Beeline. No problem when folding. There’s a photo of it on [this ride.](https://www.strava.com/activities/17005127510)
I use a self 3D printed bar on my handle bar and a Fidlock attached ot it. With that I just use my smartphone with OSMAnd~ from the F-Droid store. I use that combo with all my bikes for many years, now. No regrets. A powerbank with angled plugs is a nice addon, as a solar panel is for longer travels.
