Need some suggestions. I found a deal on a set of XeNTiS Kappa 2 for $750. I’m thinking of picking them up for a "just for fun" 650b build on my Trek Checkpoint.
I already have a 700c road wheelset, so these would be strictly for bikepacking and chunky gravel. My Checkpoint has 45mm clearance for 700c, so I’m planning to run 47mm tires on these 650b hoops. So the width not the main reason. Should I go for it?

They look funky, nice wheels.
Honestly, I’d never pay $750 for a used wheelset, let alone ones with an older hub standard. I’d also have some reservations about loading up my bike with touring stuff and riding these out to the middle of nowhere. I know they’re plenty strong, but compared to a standard spoked wheel there’s no partial failure state that you can ride through or self repair. If you break one, you’re just kind of boned. They do look cool though.
