Another “old man getting back into it” post. I grew up racing and terrorizing my city with my Pro Racer. Definitely shows my age, and things have changed quite a bit. I’ve found a couple of used bikes near me that look like good options. One is a Haro Leucadia. Growing up I didn’t care much for them because I was a Hutch kid. I see they’re still around and people think kindly of them. It’s only $100, a little beat up, which isn’t an issue, and 30 minutes from me. The other is a Fit Bike Co STR, only ridden a few times, in great shape, $200, and two hours away. I can change cranks, rims, and whatever to make it better as needed. I’m just looking for the better base. What’s the better starting point? Thanks in advance.

What’s the top tube length on these? How tall are you?

But honestly, I’d go for the fit. The Haro looks generic as all hell to almost being a Walmart bike

  2. If you’ve been out for a while it’s going to come down to top tube length and head tube angle. You’d be shocked at how much bmx size and geometry has changed in the last several years. I had many years off from when I was a kid to getting back into it as an adult and I bought up random bike off of craigslist that had crazy nice components on it and I got a great deal but I could not believe how tiny and twitchy the bike was. I am right now in the process of building a new one from the ground up and it’s really hard to find parts that are what I’m looking for as an older guy who’s used to the way older bikes ride.

  3. From a mechanical.standpoint, the fit was for more current with integrated headsets and different geometry. Id personalty for with the fit pending the size fit for you.
