Our first day bikepacking through Holland took us from the port town of Hook of Holland to a peaceful campsite just outside Zoetermeer. Along the way, we pedalled past classic Dutch scenery—windmills, canals, and endless cycle paths—before heading into town for a well-earned dinner.

In this episode, we share:
• What it’s like starting a multi-day ride straight off the ferry
• Stunning sights (and a few surprises) along our route
• The joys and challenges of bikepacking as a couple

  1. Great to see you pedalling through the Dutch greenery. Hope you've enjoyed despite the wind. I'm just a bit puzzled by the name of the campsite. 'De drie morgen' sounds strange, it would translate as 'the three tomorrow/morning'.

  2. New Subscriber : That was great. I guess the Dutch must have the best bicycle infrastructure anywhere (and they only decided to do it I think in the 60's). Come to Czech Republic – it's hardly ever windy here 🙂 All the best and greetings from Prague !

  3. Very nice street views of your travels through the various towns. What great bike highways that the country has provided. Love the McDonalds there "they're EVERYwhere! They're EVERYwhere!"

  4. You were SO close to the best fish restaurant in the country and you went to McDonald's?

    That makes me sad.

For everyone else, when in Scheveningen go to Simonis (in the harbour). The end.

  5. If England ever wants to bomb Holland, they must do it first monday of the month at twelve o'clock. Nobody will react because it's testday for the air raid alarm 😉

  6. Was in the Netherlands in May, Amsterdam and Den Hagg for a day, to pick up an emergency passport from the Brit Embassy, was well impressed with the cycling infrastructure, will definitely be going back and taking the Brompton with me

  7. Nice work, guys. I'm enjoying the video.
Apologies for the Dutch summer winds, do try to stay out of them in your presentations to keep that wind noise down.
Loving the Boardman. I briefly checked the june video also: I understand that you use what you have but somewhere in the future, your girl deserves a better bike.
Step away from the straight bar, and get that sitting pisition checked out. She's a bit low (long legs). You're doing great!

  8. Nice to see you guys visiting my hometown of Zoetermeer! Did you walk/cycle through the "Westerpark" which is on the other side of that huge rusty looking cycling bridge and your campsite "de Drie morgen"? Always love to go there for a walk.

  9. As a dutch cyclist i can appreciate your enthousiasm. 🙂
The Dutch coast is awesome to ride. Scheveningen is too big and touristic imho but the rest is nice.
    Especialy the northern part.

  10. Nice you like the Netherlands so far. As a Dutch citizen its clear to me that Megan is a novice cyclist. As a native we always identify them quickly. Apart from Belgian,German, and some Danish cyclist the rest is considered a liability and we give them extra space.😊 There are some American and British diehards off course. You will learn to trust de Dutch infrastructure though. Not breaking but accelerating on a decent and trusting there are no big potholes for instance.😊😊

  11. Oh like this video especially the start I was born years ago in Hook of Holland.
My father was a sailor on the ferry to Harwich he sailed for many years between Holland and England.
I hope you like your stay over here and enjoy your biking holidays.
I live here in the southwest and here in the province of Zeeland, with the Deltaworks we have always some wind.
Oh by the way, there are times showers are coming in from over the Northsea from the west, Ireland-UK-the Netherlands and we send them to Germany.
Looking forward to your next video.
    Greetings from Zeeland.

  12. The dutch cycling network looks amazing (and flat!) I ride my folding bike to work here in the U.K. when the weather's nice, but after watching this video I'm going to try The Netherlands. I'm 65 next year so the flat cycle paths will be a huge bonus for me.
