Is this a spoke tension issue? Are they too tight? I’ve had it in for truing twice in the last month and this keeps happening. I’m done with shops telling me there’s no damage and calling it good.. Should I buy a new wheel? I would have thought that if my wheel were actually damaged I would have lost pressure but the tire has been fine.

I don’t see the prob……ohhhhhh…..that’s not supposed to happen…..
Yeah, something is definitely wrong there. I wouldn’t think it’s a spoke tension issue, but more of a lacing/build issue. I’m definitely not a seasoned wheel builder, but I have done a few with some guidance. I’d find a different shop and show them this.
Find a different wheel builder. I’m guessing tension overall is too low to stabilize the rim but it’s hard to tell without the wheel in the stand. No comment on rim damage.
Yikes, I have never ever seen a wheel do THAT!
Definitely take it to a shop and have them tension that thing up. Yikes
Buce it or not, but overly tensioned, mainly on 1 side.
It seems that perhaps someone tensioned this after doing a bump of cocaine.
Ive only seen this happen when newer wheel builders just “wing it” when bringing up tension. Just going tighter and tighter and tighter.
Though, it would “taco” or “potato chip” in the truing stand. It would scare the shit out of them.
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen this, so I pulling from a somewhat hazy memory.
New wheel day. Tbh that’s scary it left a shop like that. Spoke tension is way off. But id be worrying about damage to the rim if ridden like that.
Yeah, if a shop tensioned it and it lost tension to this point then I would return and ask them to retension, ideally with either linseed oil or Spoke Freeze. Ironically, this could be the result of insufficient lubrication of the spoke nipple, since unlubricated threads will begin to bind before proper tension is achieved. With this degree of tension loss, you will probably start breaking spokes on the drive side. If that starts, then buy a new wheel or have this one rebuilt.
The rim is probably cracked vertically. The extremely uneven spoke tension cracked the rim and therefore makes it bend like that. No rim should ever be able to do that kind of movement, even under one sided tension. That rim is most likely busted
