For context, this was on a canyon road, only one lane of traffic both ways. Two cyclists were in their lane, not cutting anyone off or breaking any traffic laws. They were on the left side, passing the driver in the opposite direction. The driver, (who was also recording this video), looked like they were going to suddenly turn left in front of the cyclists for a second, so one of the cyclists yelled “HEY!!!” in a reaction to being scared that the driver was going to turn in front of them. Yeah Instagram is full of BMW drivers, what did you expect? You’ll also find the most racist takes there, all food conspiracies like people rambling about seed oils and drinking raw milk and whatever else.
This is no surprise. Back when I still used social media (besides reddit) pretty much every post had comments like this about cyclists. No matter how clearly the cyclist was in the right. Life is much brighter if you can ignore those comments or just not read them to begin with. Social media is built on highly controversial media being front and center because it encourages engagement.

As a primarily mountain biker. The MTB community is definitely the most bro’y, douchey, and overall conservative of all the bike sub genres. Kinda reflected in those comments
A. There are always trolls, on any post. I went to high school and was friends with a guy who I found out was an online troll. He literally posted stuff just to make people angry, regardless of his actual opinion on it. He thought it was funny to make people upset. Always remember that, some people are just losers.
B. People say stuff online they won’t say, let alone act on, in person.

Yeah, the hate is awful but cyclists on 45mph canyon roads are a really big problem and should not be allowed, to be fair.
I’m all for expanding cycling paths, promoting cyclism and reducing car footprint, etc, but certain roads we simply shouldn’t share with drivers. Canyon roads in the mountain and highways are two of them. It’s simply too dangerous to share those roads, unless literal speed bumps are installed in the canyons and speed limits are reduced from 45 to 25. The blind corners are simply too dangerous, and make it really unsafe for cyclists. Look up how many cyclists are killed by cars in California canyon roads every year… either make those roads safe for cyclists or ban bikes in those stretches

People fucking hate us. It’s why I stick to trails as much as possible.
This is why I’m mostly a rail trail, gravel and Zwift rider now. Outside of a few select roads around me I have zero trust left for drivers I have to share the road with, and drivers are only continuing to get more distracted and angry.
As a cyclist, I hate the sheer arrogance of most cyclists. Always on that “but I have the right of way here”. Brother if a vehicle hits you the only right of way you have is to Jesus 😭😭😭 I never cared if I’m right or wrong on my bike as long as I can be safe on the road.

Bikes shouldent be on roads where its unsafe, so all roads that are not safe should have a safe bike route, that is at least somewhat compareable
