Has anyone here brought a bike from Japan back to your home country? My trip just got extended for a few days due to northeast US weather and I’m considering tracking down a bike to bring back home.
Most popular bikes I’ve seen are 20-inch neighborhood commuters or step-thru Panasonic ebikes, both of which would be fun to bring home as I’ve never seen them in the states.
Has anyone bought a bike in Japan and shipped home? Any advice? Are these worth bringing across the pacific? I’m in Kyoto and Tokyo before I fly home. If anyone has by specific shops who may be able to help me out. TIA

You certainly could do this. You’d likely save some money if you could send it in a bike box in a container ship rather than a plane.
None of the bike in the pics have locks. How common are bike locks in Japan? Are they even necessary?
