  1. Argentina? Really? No offense, but your concept of "friendliness" might be a somewhat distorted…
    Province/Capital relationship issues? Come on.

  2. Obviously, you haven't visited Eastern Europe. I'm Hungarian, and people here are very kind to their relatives and close friends, but often very unfriendly toward strangers, especially foreigners. Many Hungarians don’t speak even basic English, and they can get frustrated when someone speaks to them in English. This is particularly true for those over 50, while younger generations tend to be somewhat more welcoming.

  3. Buenos Aries disdain for citizens from the provinces is similar to New Yorkers or Washingtonians attitude towards what they consider country bumpkins in America's south.

  4. Paris was the most unfriendly place I’ve been to. It was actually rather frightening as a woman traveling alone.
In the train station the information signs were in about 5 different languages, but not one in English.

  5. traveled thru Belgium and Luxemburg in the 90's…they were arsholes. God forbid they actually open their mouths. they just look at you with utter contempt. I guess that happens when you haven't had to defend your country successfully for hundreds of years.

  6. Danes aren't unfriendly we are just very reserved. Even to other Danes. We don't also don't like small talk. But find us aweekend night drunk and we are the friendliest

  7. I think Argentinian snobbery comes as a bit of a shock to travelers that haven't done their research.
You'll see complaints about it on travel review sites.
It's like Paris, if you know to expect snobbery, it won't come as a surprise.

  8. Greece. I am sitting outdoor at a restaurant. No table available. I see a couple looking for a table and offer to share mine. I ask for the check. NO check splitting. First they should have realize the situation. After explaining them that I actually did them a favor by adding 2 customer they still were rude about. This was not the only case so for me Greece is crossed out.

  9. I've travelled to 38 countries. A few unfriendly places I found were (no particular order) Ecuador, China, UAE (Dubai). South Africa was an odd one, people were either very rude or very kind, there were extremes. Places where I found people to be friendly, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Japan, Botswana.
People's experiences will vary a lot. You don't really know what a place will be like until you're there yourself.
