Question: Do cheaper bike brands like Cube and KTM cut corners in carbon quality/longevity compared to big brands like Trek, Scott, Orbea etc.?

Background: Searching for a gravel bike in the upper quality range (GRX 600/800), makes you come across some genuinely odd price variations among brands.

For some reason, procuders such as KTM and Cube put bikes with equal components out for around 30 % less than other notable procuders such as Orbea, Giant, etc.

Orbea's aluminium gravel bikes with chunky welts even cost more than the aforementioned brands' carbon bikes with identical components.

Is this really all just down to slimmer margins or actual manufacturing quality dfferences?

  1. Advertising and pro tour rider sponsorship is expensive. You can either do it and charge more or not.
