Zurich, Switzerland is ranked as the most expensive city in the world in 2024 🇨🇭
And the food costs definitely reflect that
Walking around downtown I really struggled to find anything good to eat at a restaurant for less than 20CHF ($22)
Even at Burger King a double cheddar burger cost $16 and a Whopper is $10 😱
So when I walked past this Indian restaurant and saw the prices they were advertising I thought it was crazy
27.5CHF ($31) for the cheapest thing on the menu that had meat
And this wasn’t a high end restaurant where you’d expect these prices
Just an average spot to eat!
But I’m not one to complain too much
I understand that’s just the way it is in Zurich and Switzerland
This is the cost of traveling 🤷♂️

People in Zurich earn the most in the country. Also if your country’s currency is weak against the Swiss Franc it will be dearer for you. I live in the east of the country and it is cheaper to live there than in Zurich.
Check the usd<>chf exchange rate since 2000. The prices in switzerland didnt went up that much but the value of USD went down a lot. Also other currencys…
American INDIAN CURRY IS NASTY. I can confirm that as an Indian. They add paste instea of tomato and everything feels heavy. They also use those tasteless white onions. Idk how it is in switzerland but Americans eat nasty curry

To be fair, switzerlands avg income is around $100k annually and Zurich specifically has an average income of over $120k.
