Scored this 2012 Haro 400.1 20.5TT in nearly perfect shape (got a crazy deal on it) as my first BMX bike. I’m 6′ and 250 lbs. I know my weight is not ideal for BMX. Assume all parts are stock. I’m not looking to do any jumps, tricks (aside from maybe wheelies if I ever get there) but more just for having something I can bomb around town in, you know, as 45 year old dudes like me do.
Anyways… just wondering if there’s anything that I should know ahead of time about BMX bikes, BMX biking and the bikes in general. I have a basic knowledge of bike maintenance. It was recommended to me to remove the front brake, so I’m considering that. Also looking into how to remove some of these stock decals, especially the one on the headtube.
Looking for the wisdom of the hive mind to guide me to casual BMX biking greatness. Thanks in advance!
