I have a state 4130 coreline that i like but it needs to have the bottom bracket cranks and chainring replaced. that would be around $250-$300. on Facebook marketplace I found a KHS flight 100 in excellent condition for $200 and I don’t know what the better option would be. I am fine with cheaper parts on the bottom bracket, but it’s been hard to be able to find any that in total would be cheaper than just a new bike.first bike is mine second is the one i might buy

that khs is tight but i’d stick with this one, buying some good quality cranks is a much better investment rather than just throwing more old ones on

An Andel forged crankset with a quality ring and a UN54 bb costs less than a $100 and will last many thousands of miles.

Quality parts are an investment. Investing in happy shredding

  3. Looks like the flite has SRAM S100 cranks, which use the discontinued ISIS bottom bracket system. They are prone to self destruct out of nowhere, and since they’re discontinued a replacement may be hard to come by. You’ll pretty quickly end up with 2 bikes that both need new cranksets.

A SRAM S300 crankset is £100 new incl bb and chainring, just get that fitted. Or find a complete with a decent crankset fitted

  4. BB and chainring are wearable components. It doesn’t make sense to buy a new bike every time you need maintenance. If you’ve been wanting an excuse to upgrade your whole ride, this is your chance. Otherwise, it’s just time to take care of it. Luckily, fixed gear is very low maintenance by design

  5. Check out Bikes Together. They’re our local CoOp and a great way to save some money and learn how to work on your own bike.
