started building up my velobuild 268 recently and ran into this issue – since the cables i used were so stiff, they end up pushing the cockpit to around the centre pretty hard when the handlebars are turned all the way to the left. Is this an issue? I believe some tension is normal but this feels pretty significant. When i turn the bars, i can see from the BB shell that it's trying to push the cable further down, then when i release it the cable springs back into shape. I am using the stock Shimano bh90 hose, and its the only hose going through the downtube since im on Di2.
i have a feeling it might be because of the foam housing i put around the cable, restricting it from moving around as easily, but when i remove it the scratching sound heard in this clip becomes more noticeable.
Also this is the first time ive built up a road bike – and the first time im dealing with internal cable routing.

Welcome to the world of internally routed headsets!
Sometimes crossing the hoses the opposite way within the headset helps. Other than that, you could run a slightly longer hose. If it were mine, I’d send it as is, it won’t affect performance.
No fix. Also the shit will get worse when water with sand gets inside damaging the steering tube and bearings.
Only custom mount for external routing.
Power steering
You’re never going to turn your handlebar that sharply so why do you care
Dont care.
External routing is the only fix.
It’s completely normal for headset cables to pull the bars 1 way or another.
Can I just say the finish and colour on your frame is gorgeous
Route your cables externally.
Noob question… why does the looseness of tge headset matter? I get utterly shouldn’t be very stiff, but does it really have to be feather light? Aslong ad there is no play in it why does ut matter so much?
Option #B —- cut it
You’ll never notice it while riding
