i changed my chain and cassette and 2 gears bite and skip while rest are fine , if it happens on 5-6th gear i adjust it with the barrel and problem moved over to 1-3 or 10-12 . the jockey wheels i noticed are loose and have some play is this normal ?

wait that is too much play. it should move laterally but not wiggle like that
check your derailleur to frame alignment too
I wouldn’t worry about it
Feel free to replace it if you like though. No issues with that
There is built in lateral float for jockey wheels, it’s how they reliably track the chain and push it to the right cog. If they were laterally stiff, gear changing would be almost impossible to perfect.
No bike I’ve ever had or used has any play in jokey wheels and I work at a bike hire. Bearings or bushings are definitely worn out
That’s definitely a lot of play. It may not be the root cause here, but it’s a plausible hypothesis.
Before you replace them (you can get some with sealed roller bearings for pretty cheap), I would check:
* Derailleur mounting bolt — if it’s loose, you’ll get inconsistent shifting
* Derailleur hanger — if it’s bent, you’ll have some gears that work smoothly, others that don’t
* Cassette — make sure it’s properly tightened, this also can cause rough shifting
* B tension — verify this is correctly set, it can also cause rough shifts or skipping gears, and be sure the little plastic bit is in between the screw and the hanger (if it has one, not all derailleurs do)
My opinion:
-in bushing type jockey wheels lateral play is normal, radial is not and sign that wheel should be changed.
-in bearing type lateral play is either little or none, ofc radial is still sign of wear.
That’s the upper jockey wheel right? If it is, just ride and ignore…
could be the bearing is knackered.
You can get replacement Jockey Wheel Pulleys from amazon.
also have you tried tightening the bolt/screw in the middle of that jockey wheel?
Is your chain and cassette the same as before ? Manufacturers cut chains down to their own specs, and if the cassette has a different number of teeth per sprocket than before it may aid in the problem. Other reasons i could think of is having a stiff link in the chain or having the derailleur adjusted too tight or loose. Can t really help beyond that, hope you get it figured out 🙏
Go metal broooooo!!!!
No play sideways and you really know when your chain lube is gone
Just pack it with greese. Good ones have bearings but this one probably has a metal sleeve inside it
