  1. People make the same complaints about British trains! Mind you, I really do hate it when they go on about it supposedly being cheaper to fly to a foreign country than get a train to the next city. You can't compare a fully flexible on the day rail fare to a flight that's invariably booked in advance – you try turning up at the airport and buying a flight there and then and seeing if it's still as cheap! And who seriously needs to take a long distance journey on the day anyway? I'm sorry, but I find it very hard to imagine there being people in Newcastle waking up in the morning and suddenly learning that they have to go to London that same day!
