I bought a second hand set of DT Swiss E1800 Spline wheels

as soon as I received them, I checked the DT Swiss ID number… on the front wheel all was good … then I checked the rear wheel… the DT swiss site recognised the ID but not the product … it said that it is a genuine product but was unable to point at a certain product

so I messaged DT Swiss about this … this morning I got a call – Yeap…they called me on my phone – to inquire about this product as no one on the team could identify the product

they confirmed that the internal system acknowledges that it is a genuine product, but failed to identify the exact product

I chatted with a service and warranty rep for about 10 minutes about what it could be, as he found no trace of the id, nor did he know about an e1800 model with black writing ( it's not a decal or sticker, it's the factory branding). the conclusion was that it is one of the following: a custom set made by DT Swiss themselves(now I am wondering where the front wheel is 😁), a wheel from a team sponsored by them, a wheel set or single wheel made for a bike show or exhibition

Has anyone else seen this kind of wheel or can help me find out more?

  1. Do they track every wheel? I know my canyon came with similar wheels that were canyon specific and weren’t available anywhere else including the dt website.

  2. They are (were?) stock wheels with some Specialized models as far as I remember. I also bought a pair with black letters on them, and you see them pop up used every once in while.
