I bought this fixed-gear bike about half a year ago.
It was fine for around four months. Then a small ticking noise started. At first, whenever i track stand and apply torque back-and-forth it was barely noticeable, but last week it became much more, louder and really annoying.
There’s no wiggle, no loose bolts, and no visible wear, haven’t been touched.
The noise seems to be coming from the bottom bracket area.
The chain is fine.
The pedals are fine.
The cog is fine.
I’m not sure if there’s something wrong with the square taper bottom bracket, but the noise is very annoying.
I don’t have the right tools to remove the crank arm to check for issues.
I haven’t visited the local bike shop yet because it’s winter, and I don’t know how to fix it.
If you have any suggestions, please write down on the comments section 🙏

  1. I had this, although mine was nowhere near as loud. I assumed it was the bottom bracket too, but turned out it was the pedals. They seemed fine but it was the first/quickest/easiest thing to rule out (I had some pedals laying around I could use). Try swapping pedals before going to the trouble of removing the BB.
