It certainly seems a fair bit better than most big box store bikes, but I think saving a little more for a bike from a more reputable bike brand would be the move. You may be able to snag a decent deal on an overstock/off season hard tail for a little more money. It will likely be a better build and have much better resale if/when you’re in the market for something more capable.
It’s not a bad bike. But I’d probably spend a little more and get a Polygon Xtrada, Trek Marlin or Giant Talon. Those can run in the $620-700 range. You can use 99Spokes.com to compare models.
My hardtail is the Xtrada 5 and I love it.
With any of these just make sure you invest in some good pedals and grips.
I’ve seen a lot of buzz about these. Regardless of people’s opinion I’d be skeptical of its assembly being from Walmart. I’d immediately take it to your local shop and have them check everything over. Most shops make their money on service anyway.
