Important note: I'm trying to do bike mechanic by myself and can do lame mistakes.
What I have:
– A suck in on the front narrow wide chainring, but only on quick link
What I've tried:
– Lubed chain up, it has been cleaned from original lube
– Replaced with a brand new quick link (same Shimano cn910-12)
More details about setup:
– Chinese Chainring Stone, marked as Shimano 12 compatible
– New Crux bike with new Shimano 105 crankset 160mm
– Shimano XT M8100 chain
My thoughts that if the chainring would be not compatible with 12 HG completely it would happen all around the chain.
Of course one of the options is to ditch the chainring, but should I try to use non Shimano quick link first, as I guess there might be a chance?

Additional note if anyone wondering, according to Crux compatibility table 105 crankset with 42 teeth should be tight, but ok
Sorry for misstype in title 🙂
Not sure you are doing anything wrong, a genuine Shimano chainring won’t do this
Make sure the back one is clicked into place, and try just moving that section back and fourth a bunch of times, apply a liberal amount of lube on that one link
Is the roller in end of that link? It might be missing and the link is squeezed together making it too narrow and sticks.
You chainrings isn’t hg+ compatible, what chainring is it?Â
Did you shorten the chain?
Maybe try a kmc quick link?
Didn’t you put chain in the wrong direction? On Shimano you should place chain with text pointing outwards the frame
I’d check with the original CR, if the link doesn’t get stuck, you’ll have your answer.
The question of if the CR would jam the links all around is fair, and the answer is, not necessarily. The tolerance on the rest of the riveted chain can be different from the tolerance on the quick link simply by virtue of the link needing slightly different dimensions to remain secure.
did you read the manufacturers’ website? it clearly states –
You have to replace the 12s shimano original quick link to other brand 12s quick link like KMC YBN SUMC any brand. as the shimano 12s quick link is too narrow.

Narrow down the problem always, seems the issue is the chain link only. Confirm this and it’s an easy solution.
So instead of wondering why or x,y, z, begin by changing it 🙂 Then compare what link works with the previous.
**Edit**: Your BCD110R2-42T-Y (Stone brand?) seems to be like an **aftermarket narrow-wide ring**.
Many of these were historically **tuned around non-HG+ chains**. They are really tuned around **older Shimano + SRAM chain shapes**. Either way easier to replace the chain link.
Funny that this came up. I received a shipment of 3x 820 GRX groupsets yesterday in my shop, all supplied with Deore/105 12 speed chains. Installing the first chain I had this happen. No biggie, grab the second chain. Same thing! And the third as well. I’m guessing a batch got through QC (whatever that entails) . . . It’s not the chainrings, per se.
My educated guess is the dimensions of the groove in the pins is out. I looked at some KMC 12sp quick links and the Shimano one were a smidge narrower.
