Just having this happen:
– install new chain go for a ride
– notice I need a new chain ring (ordered)
– buy notch tool to take off cinch (thanks Amazon!)
– ordered preload ring x2 just in case I break one (previously broken by last bike shop who worked on it)
– notice my spindle looks like ass (ordered and on its way)
– while I'm replacing everything else may as well put in a new bottom bracket (coming with the spindle kit)
– purchase tool to take off bottom bracket (Amazon for the save again)
Anybody else start something on their bike and it morph into so much more?

You sure you’re not missing an outer dust cover/sleeve for your BB? That wear is extreme.
There’s nothing better than needing an oddball tool and remembering you bought one three years ago for a different bike.
