So writing my final update a day later as it took that long to recover. Ended up camping on the south west side of Butterdon hill on Dartmoor, walked the bike way further and across way rougher ground than i thought i did at night. Bike was fine on the road but terrible on the moors. The way back was fun as road tyres on wet moorland make black ice seem like sandpaper. Glad i bought the bigger and better tent as the light weight one was crap, enjoyed the space the large one gave me. The rucksack was brutal but i knew it would be.
Things i learnt: bring more fuel or a better stove as sausages were under done, i need a better sleeping bag if i don't bring my blanket, dry spare shoes and gloves are a must, a head torch would be handy over putting my bike light in my mouth. Thats it, i'm not taking that bike so that is irrelevant.
Is it weird that it has put me off riding yesterday and today?
Many thanks.

Before I even clicked in the post and read any info, out of the whole world, from just the photos I knew it was Dartmoor lol
Has or hasn’t put your off riding?
It is not weird at all, because your setup is just not for bikepacking. Yeah it might be fine for car camping, but not bikepacking
Yeah that bike is not made for anything but commuting on the road or a slight dirt road. Definitely not for multi day trips or bikepacking.
I think if you invest in a better bike you’d have a better time! Beautiful location
I love the fact you did it with a Dutch bike. People umm and ahh about what bike/ kit to get. You just did it!
This is the perfect example of why people should stop repeating the bullshit line of ” the best Bikepacking bike is the one you already have”.
