Bought this giant revolt 2 used last year, have put hundreds, not thousands, of miles on it. Background, have had some troubles shifting into one specific gear, and have some minor chain noise when cycling but have not yet addressed.

Was attempting to transfer bike onto a bike trainer and chain was constantly slipping. I believe this is to do with the derailleur alignment not being vertical, needing adjustment or replacement but was hoping to get some more knowledgeable insight before proceeding.

Derailleur out of alignment?

  1. You do know you should shift to the correct gear for the trainer, right? The trainer does not align itself.

Ever tried shifting a couple gears so that the derailleur cage is aligned with the trainer’s wheel?

You need to shift the derailleur so it lines up with the Zwift cog. Your hanger does look kinda bent, but the bigger issue is the indexed position.

  4. Your derailleur hanger (the component the derailleur is attached to) also appears to be misaligned and this is the cause of the concerns you had prior to the trainer.

Have a bike shop straighten it.
