What’s up bike fam, I have a core line from State bicycle been having it for a few years. This is my 2nd core line from State but I want to upgrade my bike to something faster & something more sleek looking. I ride on bike trails, I was also thinking of upgrading to an all road but I love fixies so much. I was looking into upgrading to States 6061 Black Label. Does anyone have this bike & how do we feel about this?

I would have thought these were super cool when I was 23 in 2004.
Just buy a set of track drops for your current bike, upgrading to that other bike would not be much of a component/frame step-up. Honestly on fixed gear bikes to feel a real upgrade you’re going to need a huge step up in materials for both the wheels and the frame think carbon and titanium.
I have the bike, black/mirror colored. It quickly became my go-to commuter. Lotsa fun.
Im in favour of upgrading your bike. Get a better wheelset. It makes all the difference. The more expensive State bikes aren’t necessarily all that better coponent-wise.
Drop bars and brake levers are not hard to install yourself. No special tools needed!
I made these upgrades to my single speed Masi and have used it for close to a decade now. Felt like a huge upgrade from stock.
If you’re feeling really fancy, upgraded BB/crankset too.
The stock wheels probably have ball bearing hubs. An upgrade to a sealed bearing wheelset makes the bike so much easier to pedal
