I am trying to help my friend friend a gravel bike. He sent me this listing on marketplace. I know the sizing is right but I would appreciate opinions on if this would be a good option for him.
He doesn’t ride at all currently and while he wants to start I don’t know how often he truly will. Will tubeless tires be harder to maintain if he doesn’t use them for months at a time? He will also likely do mostly paved trails or gravel roads is the dropper post going to be annoying? I’m not family with them at all. We are in Kansas so maybe one day would do Unbound. Would this bike be ok for that?
If he doesn’t use decide to get it is 800 fair? I tried bicycle blue book but could not find the same bike.
Really appreciate any insight!
contrary-contrarian on
This is basically a drop bar hardtail at this point. The fork and dropper are for rowdy terrain (singletrack and rough double track).
This bike will be quite heavy and will take more maintenance than a regular gravel bike.
If your buddy wants to ride mellow stuff, find a more standard gravel bike
