This is my current light setup. I recently upgraded my headlight from 1k lumens to 1800 lumens. plus it has a daylight feature. The rear light has a shine-down feature which is exactly what I was looking for. It also shines a bit brighter when it detects when I'm slowing down, basically a brake light. Pretty neat!

I kept the older lights but I'm using the old headlight to shine down on the frame. with my legs pumping it sometimes gives a strobe effect.

Are you sure the front light is aimed properly? It shouldn’t hit anything above handlebar height, particularly as you move away from the wall.

If you ride on paths where there are people coming towards, you need to angle the light down more

If you can, I’d strongly suggest rearranging things so that your bar bag doesn’t cast a shadow directly on the pavement you’re about to ride over. That is going to make it really difficult to react to potholes, debris, ice, etc that your peripheral vision usually takes care of just as you are about to encounter them.

  4. I bought that light bar first thinking it would be great. The footage and photos on AliExpress were faked. Yes, a lot of light BUT it most definitely does not have a sufficient beam cut-off, so it’s relegated to spare lights duty.

I replaced it with a Rockbros RHL3000 and oh my God what a difference! Proper beam cut-off and has a high beam option.

  5. The front light shouldn’t illuminate the bar-bag.
The shined-on bar-bag will blind you, or at least disturb your sight to the road in front of you.
