I’m trying to repair or replace a sticky Focus freehub that has a skewed/non-aligned metal dustcap or seal of some kind next to the bearings. I’m apprehensive about using force on the dustcap since I don’t know whether to pull or push or how fragile it is. IIRC the wheel runs fine, but the freehub is gritty and I’d like to at least flush it, but I don’t know how to get it off the wheel.

Rightly or wrongly but honestly, I’d just look to knock it straight with a soft drift. Something like a wooden dowel or plastic pipe.
