Recently finished my first tour from ho chi min city to Hong Kong and was considering the what the possibility’s could be with bike packing and touring. I’m into thru hiking and in the US there is the triple crown of thru hiking trails which include the pacific crest Trail, continental divide trail and the Appalachian Trail. I was thinking of a global equivalent to this and this is what I came up with. I met a couple people who have cycled from Europe to Southeast Asia and some who have done parts of the pan American highway but I’m interested in anyone who has done all three, Norway to South Africa, Alaska to Argentina, Portugal to Far East China or Russia. Thanks!

  1. Don’t think many people go so far as Vladivostok. But it’s certainly possible to end in china / Korea / Japan.

Everything else is pretty feasible if certainly not easy by any stretch.

  2. It depends how exactly you see the tours. Probably many didn’t go as far in Russia. But there are people who has been cycling much more than that.
Since you created this three crown your self you won’t find people who did exactly that I guess.
People who come spontaneous to my mind who did much more..

  3. Look up Samer.bikes on Instagram. He’s on the last of the 3 routes now.

I’ve done the Panamerican, next will be Norway to SA, then plan to start cycling back north in Africa for a bit before flying to maybe turkey, and from there cycling to SE Asia, eventually across Australia, to fulfill my goal of cycling the length of every continent.

I think the visa situation will make that route untenable. It looks like a epic challenge though.

I was just thinking that years ago it was much easier to travel. The world has become much more hostile.

Just a little side note. There is something wrong with that route through the Americas. You seem to be taking a detour through the Caribbean. Let’s call it artistic license.

Have you seen this guy Nick Sanders?

I will be willing to bet he has done the Tripe Crown.

  5. My buddy Ian is just finishing his 6th continent. Other than the Americas his routes were different. Check out ridewithian on insta if you’re interested.

  6. Geopolitics and security issue makes that the possible routes keep shifting. So, how liberal you are with your interpretation, what exact routes are allowed and whether you allow to do the routes in sections matters. I’m pretty sure that, with a liberal interpretation, plenty of people have done it.
