For some reason the screw won’t go in. I don’t think there is a blockage because I can screw it in directly when i take the screw out of the handlebars. Will post a pic below showing the inside – as I say I don’t think there is a blockage.
Any help massively appreciated! I’ve been trying to screw it back in for an hour now

There should be a sort of wedge on the interior. It probably fell down if you unscrewed it too much. If you search for pics of a “quil stem” you will see what I mean
There is a wedge that the bolt tightens. likely it was unscrewed too far and it dropped to the bottom of the fork steerer tube. pull the stem out, straight up. turn the bike upside down to shake out or use a magnet to pull it up and thread it back on.
If you can pull the screw so far out, probably you lost the wedge thingy on the other end. It’s the black bit here: [https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/images/products/medium/21760.jpg](https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/images/products/medium/21760.jpg)

Bad pic but there isn’t a wedge in here or any blockage
That’s because the other end of it not connected
There’s a part when you pull the stem out you then screw the other part and begins to tighten when you screw it down.
Quill stem. Look up how they work
The wedge that holds the handlebars has fallen to the bottom of the fork tube

Remove the bolt from the stem and try and thread it into the wedge. Once threaded you should be able to remove the wedge with the bolt. Once out reassemble the stem and place it back into the steerer and tighten.

Pull the stem out, retrieve the wedve and thread it back on, put the stem back in, then tighten it.
Just Throw it away my man
Flip the whole bike upside down then just keep tightening till it catches sumthing and then u can flip it back and finish wot the bars in the right position ☺️
