The America’s Cup is the world’s oldest sporting trophy and the ultimate prize in sailing. Contested uniquely under the competition’s presiding Deed of Gift, the winner of the America’s Cup Match earns the right to organise the subsequent edition, including choosing the location, the date, the rules, and deciding the design of the competing boats in agreement with the Challenger of Record.

  1. Sweet footage from memory lane! Congrats, and well done team New Zealand! Well deserved, and in convincing fashion. Good effort England, to make it a race against a bit of a faster yacht, I think!

  2. I remember when oneAustralia sank, the New Zealand Herald news paper ran and ad for NZ beer brand Steinlager with the caption, "Steinlager, Goes down faster than an Aussie Yacht " !!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

  3. The America yacht was fair ahead of the others in the British cup race. Steers design was so radical there was people saying it would not make it across the ATlantic

  4. I don’t know the first thing about America’s Cup racing – but the modern boats, once they’re up on the…whatever they’re called – the small wings in the water, they suddenly take off and the speed is incredible. It must feel,so cool,to be on one when it takes off.
