The Brompton tyres are pretty small in volume – so if you are using an electric pump it hardly gets underway before reaching pressure, so the pressure goes well beyond what the parts can handle. You are also liable to burn the pump out ( Boyles law !) – I’ve done it.

I recommend using a track pump instead.
