I know this sub hates Mafia, but I got a Mafia Kush 2 for £30 used for riding to work every day 3 miles, doing what I enjoy. Will this be suitable? I won’t be doing tricks as I have a Sunday

We all shit talk them because they are marketed like they will survive a drop to grind on a ledge.
Spoiler alert – they won’t.
Edit – not sure why you wouldn’t just ride the Sunday to work. Then you won’t end up walking after deciding a few tricks seem like fun. That 30 could have been a good lock for the Sunday.

Yeah it will be fine, and I used to do the same thing before I had a car. Always would bring my shittier bike if I had to leave it outside for an extended period of time.

I mean ok £30, fine cheap for any bike. Are they good for commuting objectively? Not really, especially in the uk, bmx bikes obvious flaw is not designed for wet weather conditions.
The tyres on these are as dirt cheap as they can be, so punctures and wear will be an issue.
Where the real issue here will be, unsealed bearings in the wheels, those in my experience don’t last long at all, and less so for a bike doing mileage, they’re not particularly serviceable either.
Mafia gets the rep it does, because they’re literally alli express Chinese kit bikes, assembled in country (it’s done for effectively different import tax costs) and while they look like a bmx, any real bmx riding shows them up quickly as not fit for purpose.
But hey £30 doesn’t break the bank, and if nothing else it should be rideable just generally, as you say without the fear of being to bothered if it gets nicked or has issues

Get a second hand steal racer or touring bike with a rack for £200, enjoy the ride to work and pick up a new appreciation of other types of cycling, I wish I’d done that much earlier.
